Acceptable Use Policy
Draft pending legal review. This document has not yet been reviewed by counsel for The Schoeller Group LLC and may change before it takes effect. Questions: legal@sourcefinch.com.
SourceFinch monitors public information on behalf of its customers. This policy explains what you may and may not use it for. It forms part of the Terms of Service.
Your rights to the material you monitor
You are responsible for having the right to collect and use the content of every Source you add. Before adding a Source, check the site’s terms of use and any licence for its data, and consider copyright, database rights, privacy law and any contractual restrictions that apply to you. Retaining Evidence for your own records does not give you a right to republish it.
How SourceFinch behaves on other people’s sites
- It identifies itself as
SourceFinchwith a link to our crawler page and a contact address. - It honours robots.txt on every page a run fetches. You may not ask us to ignore it.
- It fetches only public HTTPS addresses and refuses private, internal and loopback networks.
- It never signs in, submits credentials, or works around paywalls, CAPTCHAs or bot challenges.
- Checks run no more often than your plan allows, with small per-run request and size budgets.
- Some platforms whose terms prohibit automated access are blocked for every customer.
You must not use SourceFinch to
- Access content behind a login, paywall or other access control, or try to bypass technical limits or blocks.
- Monitor a site whose terms prohibit automated access, or keep monitoring after its owner asks you to stop.
- Collect personal data about individuals to profile, track, surveil, harass or contact them, or collect sensitive personal data, data about children, or contact details for unsolicited marketing.
- Infringe intellectual-property rights, including by republishing retained Evidence without permission.
- Overload, disrupt or probe the security of any site or network, including ours.
- Point Sources at systems you do not own to test their defences, or at internal or cloud-metadata addresses.
- Engage in or facilitate fraud, price manipulation, market abuse or any other unlawful activity.
- Resell or provide the Service to others as a standalone scraping service without our written agreement.
- Share accounts or create multiple free workspaces to evade plan limits.
Enforcement
We review new origins and respond to site-owner complaints. We may block an origin for all customers, pause or remove Sources, revoke API keys, or suspend a workspace that we reasonably believe breaches this policy. Where appropriate we will tell you what happened and why.
Reporting
Site owners can opt out with robots.txt (see our crawler page) or by writing to hello@sourcefinch.com; we can block a domain for all customers. Report abuse or security issues to security@sourcefinch.com.
