Watch U.S. and UK economic indicators as they are released

Monitor UK CPI inflation and the UK unemployment rate from the ONS, New York State weekly gasoline prices from NYSERDA and the New York Fed's daily SOFR, with an alert for each new figure and each revision.

Start with UK consumer price inflation (CPI annual rate), monthlyREST API, CLI and MCP

The problem

Economic figures arrive on different schedules. The ONS publishes UK CPI inflation monthly, about the middle of the following month, and the UK unemployment rate monthly with the labour market release. NYSERDA publishes New York State retail gasoline prices weekly. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York publishes SOFR each business day at about 8:00 a.m. Eastern for the previous business day. Published values are also revised, and a revision is easy to miss if you only look at the latest figure.

This guide sets up four monitors, one per series. Each record is one period (a month, a rolling three-month period, a week or a business day), so a new release arrives as a new record and a revision as a field-level change.

What a change means

  • ONS: a new period is a new figure; a changed value with a later updated_at on a period you already have is a revision. value is in percent.
  • UK unemployment: each period is the middle month of a rolling three-month average, and label names the three months it covers (for example 2026 MAY-JUL).
  • Gasoline: a new week is a new survey. new_york_state and the 16 regional fields are in U.S. dollars per gallon.
  • SOFR: a new effective_date is the previous business day's rate. A non-null revision_indicator means the New York Fed revised that day's rate after first publication; percent_rate, the percentiles and volume_billions show what changed.

Set it up in the console

  1. Open the Verified recipe. Open the UK consumer price inflation (CPI annual rate), monthly recipe in the console. It keeps the reviewed URL, fields and record key (period), and shows the latest captured sample. Open in the console
  2. Create the monitor. Name the monitor, keep the daily schedule or pick another (the console shows the monthly run cost), confirm that you have the right to monitor the source, and choose Create monitor.
  3. Run the baseline. The first run is the baseline: every record is new. From the second run on, the monitor reports what was added, changed or removed, field by field, with the evidence behind each value.
  4. Choose how you hear about changes. In Alerts, choose immediate change emails or a daily or weekly digest; each monitor can override that on its own page. For your own systems, add a signed webhook in Destinations. Alerts and team
  5. Add the other series. Open the UK unemployment, New York gasoline and SOFR recipes the same way. Each series is its own monitor with its own history.

The other recipes: UK unemployment rate, monthly (three-month average), New York State weekly retail gasoline prices by region, Secured Overnight Financing Rate (SOFR), daily.

Alerts and evidence

The ONS series change about once a month and gasoline prices once a week, so an immediate change email per release stays quiet. SOFR changes every business day; a daily digest, or a webhook into your own table, suits it better.

Every run keeps the publisher's exact response with its SHA-256 hash and a signed manifest, and every value points back to where it was read. How that works is in the docs:

Limitations

  • The CPI series is the all-items 12-month rate (ONS series D7G7). The unemployment series is the rate for people aged 16 and over, seasonally adjusted (series MGSX), derived from the Labour Force Survey. Other ONS measures are not read.
  • Gasoline prices are NYSERDA's weekly averages for regular gasoline, compiled from survey data, statewide and for 16 regions. Each run reads the 52 most recent weeks.
  • Each SOFR run reads the 30 most recent business days. The SOFR data is subject to the Terms of Use posted at newyorkfed.org.
  • The records are statistics as published. They are not a forecast or investment advice.

Usage rights, terms posture and reliability for each source are on its source page. They are our documented understanding of each publisher's stated terms, not legal advice.
