What the data contains

The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) publishes Great Britain's product safety notices on GOV.UK: product recalls (a business recalling an unsafe product), product safety reports (a risk assessment of a product found unsafe, often one sold through an online marketplace) and product safety alerts on wider hazards, each with a PSD reference number. GOV.UK provides the collection as an Atom feed of the 50 most recently published or updated notices. This source reads the feed hourly and makes one record per notice, keyed by its feed identifier, with the title (product, brand or marketplace and reference number), link and last-updated time; GOV.UK's summary is usually empty for this collection. A monitor reports each new notice and each update. Linked pages are not fetched. Titles name products, brands, retailers and marketplaces. An entry leaving the 50-notice window is not a withdrawal. SourceFinch is independent of OPSS.

Fields and types

Every record has these fields. The key field id identifies a record across runs, so changes are reported field by field.

FieldTypeDescription
idkeystringGOV.UK feed entry identifier (a tag: URI naming the document's path), stable across revisions. The record key.
titlestringTitle of the product recall, report or alert as published on GOV.UK.
urlurlLink to the document on GOV.UK; the linked page and its attachments are not fetched.
updated_atdatetimeTime GOV.UK last published a change to the document, with its UTC offset; not the date of the underlying event.
summarystring, nullableShort summary from the feed, when GOV.UK provides one; linked document bodies are not collected.

Sample output

Evidence behind every value

  • Each run keeps the publisher's exact response, hashed with SHA-256. This sample came from a response with hash a9d5f17237979165562a1ca84349b9e916d918ad0c0b795eec1831a754607e97.
  • Every value records where it came from in that response: a CSS path into the retained capture.
  • Each run gets a signed manifest (Ed25519) timestamped by an RFC 3161 authority: this run's manifest hash is 7d12d8cbad937d6a9a2e345558e8760d7428dde3c837c439a5c771b9921627f9, timestamped October 12, 2026.
  • The compliance state at capture is recorded with the evidence: robots.txt hash and verdict, AI-preference signals, crawler identity and the usage rights below.
  • Download any run as an evidence bundle (WACZ) and check it offline, without trusting SourceFinch: sourcefinch verify-bundle run.wacz.

GOV.UK's terms state that its content, including feeds made available for other websites and applications, is published under the Open Government Licence v3.0 unless otherwise stated, which permits copying, publishing, adapting and commercial use with attribution. Personal data and third-party rights are outside that licence; this source reads only feed metadata (identifiers, titles, links, revision times and summaries) for Office for Product Safety and Standards documents and never fetches linked pages. www.gov.uk/robots.txt allows the feed path.

Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Source: Office for Product Safety and Standards. SourceFinch is independent of the publisher.

Usage rights travel with every record SourceFinch delivers (API, exports, webhooks and evidence bundles). They are our documented understanding of the publisher's stated terms, not legal advice.

Measured on completed runs of this recipe version across SourceFinch, anonymized, within a rolling 30-day window. First successful observation: October 12, 2026. A new recipe has only the history collected since that date; this is not a 30-day uptime guarantee.

Use it

Every surface creates the same monitor from this Verified recipe. Monitors keep record history, report field-level changes and deliver by webhook, export or email. You confirm you have the right to collect the source (rights: true).

Console

Open this recipe in the console: it preserves the reviewed URL, fields and record key. Review the latest captured sample, confirm source rights, and choose a schedule before creating your monitor.

Portable recipe

Copy into the console's Import or share a recipe panel to customize fields, types and schedules. This configuration contains no captured records or workspace IDs.

Pricing

Each check is one run, whatever the number of records, and failed runs are free. On its default hourly schedule this source uses about 720 runs a month. It uses HTTP acquisition, so no browser runs are needed. See plans.
